How to verify if a photo is authentic?
Our tool analyzes three dimensions: EXIF metadata (camera, date, GPS), file integrity (format, compression) and an AI visual analysis to detect manipulation and AI-generated images. The result is a score out of 100%.
How to check if a photo is real online for free?
Drop it into the tool above: the analysis is free and returns a score in seconds, broken down signal by signal. For a fuller picture, also run a reverse image search (Google Lens, TinEye) to find earlier versions of the image, and check for an AI watermark such as SynthID with the Gemini app.
Does this tool detect SynthID or C2PA Content Credentials?
No. Our analysis looks at EXIF metadata, file integrity and visual traces of editing or AI generation. To check for Google's SynthID watermark, use the Gemini app (see our SynthID guide); to read C2PA Content Credentials, use a dedicated viewer such as contentcredentials.org/verify.
How to tell if a photo has been edited or tampered with?
Several clues reveal editing: modified or stripped EXIF metadata, editing software like Photoshop detected, lighting or compression inconsistencies. Our tool automatically checks all these signals and assigns a confidence score.
Can we detect AI-generated photos (deepfakes)?
AI can identify typical patterns of images generated by models like DALL-E, Midjourney or Stable Diffusion: too-perfect textures, impossible geometry, hand or text inconsistencies. However, no detection is 100% reliable.
How to verify an image is not a deepfake?
Our analysis combines three approaches: EXIF metadata verification (deepfakes have no camera data), file integrity analysis (format, compression) and AI visual analysis that detects typical artifacts of synthetic images. For irrefutable proof, only Truth-Check certification at capture guarantees authenticity.
Why can't the score reach 100% without a certificate?
